The hybrid workplace is changing the way we work, and as a result, new employee archetypes are emerging that reflect the changing nature of work. In this blog post, we’ll explore some of the new employee archetypes that have emerged in the hybrid workplace and what they mean for companies and employees.

1. The Remote Worker Archetype

The first new employee archetype is the remote worker. This archetype includes employees who work primarily from home or another remote location but may occasionally come into the office. Remote workers are becoming increasingly common as companies adopt hybrid work models, and they offer many benefits, including increased flexibility, reduced commuting time, and the ability to work from anywhere. However, remote workers also face unique challenges, such as feeling isolated from their colleagues, difficulty separating work from personal life, and a lack of face-to-face interaction with colleagues.

2. The Hybrid Worker Archetype

The second new employee archetype is the hybrid worker. This archetype includes employees who split their time between working in the office and working from home or another remote location. Hybrid workers offer the best of both worlds, allowing them to enjoy the benefits of remote work, such as increased flexibility, while also being able to collaborate with colleagues in person. However, hybrid workers also face unique challenges, such as managing their work-life balance, finding a comfortable and productive work environment, and ensuring they have the right technology to be productive while working from both in-person and remote locations.

3. The Deskless Worker Archetype

The third new employee archetype is the deskless worker. This archetype includes employees who don’t have a traditional office desk, but may work in a variety of different spaces, including remote locations, co-working spaces, or other shared spaces. Deskless workers offer companies increased flexibility, as they can work from a variety of locations, but they also face unique challenges, such as finding a comfortable and productive work environment, and ensuring they have the right technology to be productive while working on the go.

4. The On-demand Worker Archetype

The fourth new employee archetype is the on-demand worker. An article from Forbes suggests ‘The Rise of the On-Demand Worker’ has grown, through technology, AI and the ripple effect of the pandemic. This archetype includes employees who work on a project-by-project basis, rather than having a traditional full-time job. They may work from a variety of locations, including remote and in-person. On-demand workers offer companies increased flexibility, as they can be hired on an as-needed basis, but they also face unique challenges, such as managing their work-life balance, finding a comfortable and productive work environment, and ensuring they have the right technology to be productive while working from different locations.

5. The Knowledge Worker Archetype

The fifth new employee archetype is the knowledge worker. This archetype includes employees who work primarily with knowledge and information, such as software developers, data scientists, and researchers. Knowledge workers offer companies increased expertise and creativity, as they can bring their specialized skills to the table, but they also face unique challenges, such as finding a comfortable and productive work environment, and ensuring they have the right technology to be productive while working from different locations.

These new employee archetypes emerging in the hybrid workplace offer companies and employees a variety of benefits and challenges. As the hybrid workplace continues to evolve, it’s important for companies and employees to understand these new archetypes and to work together to create a flexible, productive, and healthy work environment for all. There’s never been a better time for employees and staff to create an experience of work that is best going to suit their needs.
